Sheikh Rasheed Raises The Fares Of Railways For Dam Funds:
Sheikh Rasheed the Railway Minister of Pakistan has taken a good step to collect funds for dams, since water conservation is on top of the agenda of the new government. He has raised the fares of Railway tickets a little.
He said that maximum of RS.10 per ticket has increased in order to donate to dam funds. He said that with this minor increase in fare they will be able to raise RS 100 Million per annum and they will donate all of it in dam funds.
Sheikh Rasheed said that: “Even a beggar refuses to accept Rs10 if we give this meager amount to him, Pakistan Railways has increased its fares from RS1 to RS10 for donating in dam funds.“
This statement implies that the cost raise isn’t much, and definitely nothing when compared to the benefits of water conservation for states.
